Executive Vice President, Operational Director Europe, Groupe PSA
Maxime Picat speaks a number of languages, including German, well, and some Mandarin. That is obviously very useful in the great new world of PSA, which also integrated Opel in 2017. It's no wonder, then, that PSA head Carlos Tavares considered him to be the right analogue for the operative business in Europe. Since September 2016, Picat has been the Executive Vice President, Operational Director for all PSA brands in Europe. Picat joined PSA in 1998 after completing his studies in civil engineering at the elite university in Paris, the Ecole des Mines. He began working in the manufacturing section of the Mulhouse plant. He was then named head of the main plant in Sochaux. In late 2007, he went to China to help set up the Wuhan plant. It worked out well, because he cleverly obeyed local cultural customs. "If you want to do business in China," he says with a smile, remembering those days,"you do have to join in the odd shot of liquor." In 2011, he became managing director of the Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen cars joint venture. Then, in October 2012, he was called back to Paris to head the Peugeot brand. Since 2016, Picat has been in charge of everything related to production and sales in Europe. He reports directly to Tavares.
